My husband and I read this whole collection out loud. With each poem we were drawn deeper and deeper into the spirits they portray. I'm not sure I can say if there was one I liked best. Each was like a complete and unique individual, a whole, vivid, important being that can't really be compared to another. It's unlikely any of us will meet such characters any more. I was frankly amazed at the depth of the poet's embrace of these historic "voices", which he made to come so alive. Sometimes painful and anguished. Sometimes exquisitely refined. The details, the feel of history present, the closeness of the relatives, the animals, the rocks, and all the rest, are still resonating. It was truly a memorable experience to hear them read.Product details
