** spoiler alert ** Ok so you sucked me in so much with book 1/2 combo that I HAD to go straight to amazon and get book 3 and 4. The cliffhanger at the end of fighting to live had me so pissed off and desperate for more. I was off to amazon so fast I made my own head spin. I'm not one to leave spoilers but WTF CANADA, WILL AND JAKE?!?!?! Really?! As much as you are drawn both male characters Jake is relentless, even more so after Will's return. Then that whole mess with her memory. I've been reading this to my hubbs...you know zombie bonding time...and he HATES Jake. Every time I say his name he gets a look like Will would get and makes crappy comments about why he isn't dead yet and if he were Will he would've killed him by now. We both questioned Canada and her not searching for Will herself. No matter how injured or how much pain she was in she always took part in everything else so for her not to help search for her hubbs i found that unbelievable. Like i thought for sure that they would have to pull her back and keep her safe from endangering herself further. I really thought she would run into a zombie laden house to find him by herself. but she did nothing but stare at the house...it was hard for me to believe that. I can get that she was in shock and it's diff when it's someone that close to you but Will was her everything and to just be like okay and leave him, nah that's not her. I get why it went that way. Opening up the story line for Jake and his bipolar ass. Ya I think he's worse than her. As awesome as it is they are willing to gave save everyone, where in the hell are they gonna stay?!?!? they don't have these apartments built yet and i'm freaking out all the noise from the house is gonna call the horde....the big one.....the one so massive it tears the house down to the foundation! But I will tell you this....I'm sooooooooo looking forward to reading about Sara getting what's coming to her and I want to know what was in that effin picture!!!!! Lucky for me I don't have to wait for book 4 woooooohooooooo! hope you are almost done with book 5 or i'm gonna be bipolar all over your a$$ till i get it ;) (oh there were errors in this book, just a heads up to ya)

Learning To Live Zombie Overload Series Book 3 eBook C M Wright Roxane Przygoda Trisha Wilko Reviews

I have read the first two and admit that I am only about 40% through with this book. I am sure I will finish it, but at this point the back and forth internal dialog about the 'love triangle' is really dragging the story down. More than that, however is the whole plot thread - warrior, warrior-wife and not-so-warrior husband seems like a direct borrow from The Walking Dead. Beyond that it is a really tiresome plot divice that the committed wife is somehow swept off her feet / really thrown off her emotions by a strong newcomer in just 24-48 hours so much that she is willing*/wrestling with adultery after years of marriage.

As a female author, she brings a different perspective to genre which is good and gives the books a different perspective. But the long internal dialogues, typically about 'love feelings' (and often repeated just a few pages later and again and again) drags this book unnecessarily toward romance.

The other item that is disappointing is the way in which the physical pain is occasionally a major issue - when her mom rubs her back - or a non-issue when they are getting "fresh" on the front floor of the hummer! So is she bruised and broken or not?

The previous scene left me curious enough about the inside of hummer, so I had a look at some youtube videos. Much of what the author describes as happening (which includes 2-3 people laying down) stretches the limits of credibility. The military hummers are an important element in the storyline. Some artistic license good, very under researched to no so good.

And as a married man, I know the level of looks and 'looks' that go on, but there is sooo much in this book it is like a Junior High dance. For the number of times Jake, touches, grabs, squeezes, kisses etc., her, he verges on sexual predator. Remember this takes place over just a few days - and the wanted/un-wanted overtly sexual advances are once or twice a day!

Very enjoyable read. Reasonably well paced and reasonably well thought out, but issues like those above really took me out. One last example. They rescue her friend Bianca - take a pause to hear her story at an inappropriate time - then when Bianca wants the know what all the 'looks' and drama is about Canada says it a long story lets get moving! What!? (Did I really want a recap as a reader? No.) Come on a single sentence like - There is some tension from the close circumstances, male ego and heightened emotions! Canada always has some smart comment.

Will I read the next one... I am not sure. Would I recommend the first two, yes. I may update this when I actually finish, but there was just this pent-up frustration that had to get out!

*- Last by not least, intended or not, the husband's name is Will. And the fact that Canada is struggling with her will to do the right thing - just seems cheap.

Update I did finish the book and have not moved to the next one in the series. As a recommendation perhaps the best Zombie book I have read so far, 5 star material, is Zombie Crusade Book II David's Journey. It does not depend on the first book and can be read independently.
I liked book one & two, but this one fell flat for me. First, it seemed to be written in a hurry (like maybe a weekend) and had more grammar errors than the previous two and, for some reason, annoying sentence structure with many, many "-" in the middle of sentences like, "You might want to think of giving it a female name-and maybe have some names on standby for the pups." What's with the -? Second, I liked Canada and I liked that she was your average chubby housewife and mother, but what's up with Jake (a hunky hardbody military guy with beautiful eyes) lusting after her (admittedly) "fat ass", backing her up against a wall/car/door/etc, taking every opportunity (including a stupid amnesia/she thinks he's her husband plot line) to "run his hands over her body" and tell her he loves her. She's known him all of about 3 days total. Maybe it's some sort of soft porn/romance for bored chubby housewives who read zombie fiction? Anyway Jake lusting after Canada and Canada wanting him/not wanting him/wanting her husband was pretty much this whole book plot. Plus, if you are going to read the third make sure you read one and two first, author doesn't do much of a re-cap for the reader and, honestly, I had a hard time remembering who was who since I'd read the first two quite a while back. Maybe the fourth will be better.
